VieListr Privacy Policy
VieListr (“the app”) is published by Randy Verschueren / VieSign (“we”, “us”). This policy explains exactly what data the app touches, what it does not collect, and why each Android permission it requests is needed.
Data we collect
None. The app has no server, no analytics, no telemetry, and no account system. Your lists, items, photos, voice notes, and settings live exclusively in the app’s private storage on your device. We — the developer — have no ability to see or access them.
Data you create and where it goes
Content you enter (lists, items, notes, reminders, photos you attach, voice notes you record, and color preferences) is stored in app-private storage on your device only:
- Lists, items and settings live in a private SQLite database.
- Photos and voice notes are copied into the app’s private internal storage the moment you attach them, so they survive even if you delete the original from your gallery.
These files are removed automatically when you uninstall the app.
Things you can voluntarily send off-device
These only happen at your explicit request — nothing is sent automatically:
- Export to JSON. When you tap “Save to file…” or “Share…” on the Export screen, the app builds a JSON snapshot of your lists (with photos embedded as base64) and hands it to the Android system file picker / share sheet. Where it goes from there is your choice (local file, Drive, email, etc.). The app itself does not upload it anywhere.
- Desktop editing (local WiFi server). When you tap “Start server” the app opens an HTTP server on your device, bound to your local WiFi address, so a browser on the same network can view and edit your lists. Traffic does not leave your local network. The server stops as soon as you tap “Stop server” or close the app.
We never see this data; it never reaches our servers (we don’t have any).
Permissions we request, and why
| Permission | Why we ask for it |
|---|---|
| Camera | Only when you tap “Take photo” in the item editor or use Photo Batch — the photo is saved into the app’s private storage. |
Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) |
Only when you tap “Voice note” and record a clip — the audio is saved into the app’s private storage. |
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) |
Only to display the reminders you yourself schedule on To-do items. |
Exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM) |
So reminders fire at the time you set, even during Doze. User-grantable on Android 12+. |
Boot completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) |
To re-arm reminders after a reboot — alarms don’t survive reboots otherwise. |
Internet (INTERNET) |
Required by Android to open a network socket. We use it only to bind the local desktop-editing server when you start it. The app makes no outbound network requests. |
We do not request location, contacts, calendar, SMS, call logs, files outside the app’s own folders, or any other sensitive permission.
Third-party services
None. The app does not embed any analytics SDK, advertising SDK, crash reporter, or other third-party service that would receive your data.
Data sharing
We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to anyone. The app has no mechanism to do so.
Children’s privacy
VieListr is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them (or anyone — see above).
Security
Because all data stays on your device in app-private storage, its security depends on your device’s security (screen lock, full-device encryption, etc.). Backups created via Android’s automatic backup follow the rules declared in the app’s manifest. The local desktop-editing server is HTTP (not HTTPS) and has no authentication — it’s intended for use only on a trusted home WiFi network and only while you have it explicitly started.
Your rights / how to delete your data
Uninstalling the app removes all data it stored. There is no account to close or remote copy to request deletion of — there’s nothing held off-device.
